Smosh Announces Live Spoof: “Smosh Hospital” Date, Pricing, and Cast
The comedy group Smosh is gearing up to release its latest live digital special, a fully improvised spoof of hospital dramas titled “Smosh Hospital.” The event riffs on well-known shows like The Pitt, Grey’s Anatomy, and ER, turning the medical-drama format on its head with spontaneous banter and on-the-spot improvisation.
Details outline a one-night-only, 90-minute livestream that premieres Friday, January 16, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The production will stream exclusively at live.smosh.com. Tickets are priced at $19.99 and buyers will receive a digital copy of last year’s Smosh: The Sitcom Live! as part of their purchase.
To add an extra layer of unpredictability, the lead doctors and nurses are double-cast. If the primary actor slips from character or makes a misstep, a second actor will immediately take over. The doctors will strive to deliver the intensity of a serious medical drama, while the patient characters will relentlessly try to break them.
Smosh’s leadership describes the concept as an evolution of their live offerings. CEO Alessandra Catanese said the team is excited to bring fans the next entry in Smosh Live, emphasizing the high energy, memorable personalities, and moments that define Smosh. The aim is to deliver immersive, communal experiences for the community.
The lineup includes a familiar Smosh cast dynamic: Tommy Bowe and Arasha Lalani as Doctor Boone; Courtney Miller and Shayne Topp as Nurse O’Connell; Ian Hecox and Angela Giarratana as Doctor Condo; and Olivia Sui and Trevor Evarts as Doctor Green. The show will also feature guest appearances from Smosh alumni and friends, including Amanda Lehan-Canto, Anthony Padilla, Chanse McCrary, Damien Haas, Keith Leak, Noah Grossman, and Spencer Agnew, who will portray rowdy patients and “medical experts.”
Smosh promises a wild ride with frequent character swaps, outrageous patient scenarios, and escalating chaos as the plot unfolds. The format builds on the success of Smosh: The Sitcom Live!, expanding the cast and heightening the unpredictable setups.
Creative director Shayne Topp calls the project the most ambitious Smosh has undertaken, noting that it will blend suspense, improv, love triangles, betrayal, and even unlikely cameos, hinting that the first ten minutes alone will set a frenetic tone. Topp adds that the exact outcome is unknown, which is part of the appeal.
Background
Smosh, long considered the internet’s pioneering digital sketch brand, originated in 2005 from friends Padilla and Hecox. After a 2017 split, Smosh was sold in 2019 to Rhett & Link’s Mythical Entertainment. In 2023, Hecox and Padilla regained control, with Mythical retaining a minority stake.
