Bellinger: A Stellar Backup?
While Tucker is undoubtedly the top choice, Bellinger offers a compelling alternative. In 2025, he posted a solid .272/.334/.480 slash line with 29 home runs and 98 RBI. Plus, he's an excellent defender.
Bellinger's versatility is a major asset. He played both center and left field for the Yankees in 2025 and has experience at first base, though that wouldn't be necessary with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. already on the team.
Even without Bichette, the lineup looks strong, but they could use more firepower in the outfield. Tucker would arguably make them the team to beat. However, Bellinger could also complete a near-perfect offseason.
The Blue Jays are still actively pursuing a top free agent. With Bichette's return looking less likely after the Okamoto signing, focusing on outfielders makes sense. If they miss out on Tucker, Bellinger could be a fantastic consolation prize, potentially pushing them to the top.
